New NEIS Small Business Students Begin a 3 Month Program of Training With recent changes to Productivity Places Program (PPP) funding, New Enterprise Incentive Scheme (NEIS) applicants joining the program from October this year are able to access free training funded by the Australian Federal Government. Applicants for NEIS must have a business idea they are willing to start and undertake training two days a week for twelve weeks. The advantages with the new program is that students will enter the mentoring phase of the NEIS program, after the initial training period, with a Certificate IV in Small Business Management. An outcome of this qualification is a detailed business plan which outlines their strategy for success. The course, run by Alstonville Ballina Community College, a NEIS training provider, covers legal requirements for starting and maintaining a business, financial planning, promotion and customer skills, business planning and operations, networking, team management and includes hands-on practicle skills in business computing. The course is designed to develop skills and knowledge required for establishing, refining or managing a small business. The course is suitable for anyone wishing to become self employed in various areas of small business such as a small business operator, franchisee, home-based enterprises, tradesperson or as an entrepreneur. The NEIS-PPP program is available to jobseekers with a viable business idea.
