Alstonville Ballina & Lower Clarence Community Colleges
GET THERE FASTER
The College was formed in 1981 as a not-for-profit organisation to serve the Alstonville Community. At this time it was known as Alstonville Adult Learning Association Inc. In 2004 our training service expanded to provide training services to Ballina and we became Alstonville-Ballina Community College. In 2007 we again expanded our services to include a college site in Yamba which became known as Lower Clarence Community College.
We strive to provide quality training that is up to date and relevant to industry and business needs. We are a Registered Training Organisation which enables us to offer nationally recognised qualifications and we employ highly skilled and qualified tutors.
We are also committed to providing modern and pleasant learning environments with the latest technology and equipment.
Our class sizes are small and therefore you can be assured of individual attention. Our training is customised for adults and we pride ourselves in being friendly and welcoming independent of your previous educational background or experience.
We program our courses to ensure that our training is thorough and meets every standard but that you get finished as quickly as possible. This means you will be ready to take your skills into the workforce in as short a time frame as possible enabling you to maximise your earning potential.
Our subjects:
• Business
• Training and Assessment
• Information Technology and computing
• Hospitality
• Community Services including Aged Care and Children’s Services
• Sustainability
• Workplace compliance areas such as First Aid, Green Card and OH&S.
We provide support to a variety of community organisations but no longer offer a leisure or arts and crafts program. This decision was implemented at the beginning of 2009 to enable us to focus and develop our business and vocational training profile.
ABCC has college sites in Alstonville and Ballina. Each site has training rooms and an IT room. Alstonville is the main administrative centre but there is an office in Ballina which is staffed each, Monday to Thursday morning. There is also an outpost at Broadwater that caters to the needs of the Woodburn, Broadwater, Coraki and Evans Heads communities.
Lower Clarence Community College
The College is situated in central Yamba. Facilities include a large training room and IT training room. Courses are offered at various other sites through out the Lower Clarence region including MacLean and Iluka. We offer a free service of language and literacy training in Yamba.
